The Commodore and Roo pick up a box of Star Wars CCG Premiere from Ebay and hijinx ensue. Watch as they give their thoughts on this game after playing it for the first time in a decade and try to decipher the encyclopedia of rules that tripped them up so many times around the high school lunch table. And once you’ve seen the review, be sure to watch the companion video of us playing game that refreshed our memories – a “Let’s Play” of Star Wars CCG from the Clan of the Gray Wolf.
Greatest CCG ever. We played at least 20 times a day. I played a MWYHL/SYIT objective deck. My friend at one point played a Death Star objective deck. He would blow up my planet and that would be the end of it
At one point I had an Ewok deck. I would always lose, but having 30 Ewoks as an army was a blast. We played a lot of Endor battles, AT-ATs (Tempest), massive star destroyers, kick ass Jedis with light sabers. Amazing interrupts…simply awesome. I’m going to have to teach some peeps!
I miss this game. i still have all my cards, but no one to play with. That’s why I started playing MTG. I think SW is more fun, but MTG is more accesable.
Star Wars CCG > Magic. Star Wars is more complicated because it requires thought and proper strategy. Magic is way too simple for my taste. It’s too bad Decipher lost the license…
Ah, this brings back memories. I played up until the enhanced Jabba’s Palace sometime in 2000. About that time, it just stopped being fun. Definitely agree on the Special Edition. That really helped, especially since it came with a full rulebook with all the changes up to that point included.
I loved this game, we played all the time in high school, the couple few sets are good, but like you said it gets too complicated after that.
I still play now with my friends, i made 2 big decks over 150 cards each only ships and planets, pilots, weapons and stuff like that. to me ships where always the best part of this game. we end up having big fights, i have all the uniques ships and pilots for both light and dark side, makes for fun games
One bit of information you left out, likely because you said you quit at Dagobah, were the Objective cards. I think that’s what they were called. They were the double sided goals and rewards cards to base a deck around. They really made a lot of the convoluted, unnecessary “cinematic” gimmicks from all the expansions far more viable to use. It breathed some new life into some of the older, mostly unused cards.
Anyhow, great review and a nice trip down memory lane.
Pretty accurate review.
in my opinion the best game ever made – I would go to swccgpc.com lots of info card lists, the new virtual cards and so on – its a load of good info on how to play
You needed to get to special edition which brought in a much better concept to make a game much faster and competitive while keeping the movie concepts
I found my star wars ccg premiere intro game in the garage today, it had been stored there since 1996, and I was reading the rules booklet and still to this day after all these yearsI still don’t get how to properly play this game. I really want to know how to play this game cause it look really fun. Any help please would be sweet. Thanks
